Italian man wins the Olympics 100m running race

A man from Italy, Lamont Marcell Jacobs won the 100m running race at the Tokyo Olympics. He won the race with a time of 9.80 seconds. He is the first man from Italy to win the 100m running race. He was very happy to receive his gold medal.


The previous champion, Usain Bolt, retired from athletics after the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. Usain Bolt won the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medals in the 100m running race.


After the race Jacobs described his victory as ‘amazing, fantastic… a dream’. He said that he had a good start, and never looked back. He just ran as fast as he could and focused on staying in front.
